This wine has always constituted the backbone of the estate’s range. Clean, crisp, stony and savoury-fruity, this is a well-balanced and food-friendly Italian white with an extra measure of depth and complexity. Chill and enjoy.

2022 - 2025From: Soave - The Long Road Home (Apr 2022)
The 2020 Soave is subtle and delicate in the glass with dusty yellow florals and hints of peach skins. It washes across the palate, soft and round, with a lovely mineral and acid balance. This leaves a glycerol coating of fruit concentration, yet still finishes remarkably fresh. While not the last note on depth, the 2020 is really quite lovely.

2021 - 2024From: Valpolicella & Soave: The Times, They Are A Changin’ (Feb 2021)
The 2019 Soave is spicy and fresh with a display of lemon zest, kiwi and hints of ginger. Its textures are silky, casting ripe orchard fruits offset by minerals across a medium-bodied frame. This cleans up beautifully with hints of sour citrus and an almost salty feel throughout the finale. There's a lot of character packed into this excellent entry-level Soave, and it’s a great value too.

It’s difficult to know the brothers Elena, Sisto and Pietro, the fourth generation at the helm of the company, and not to appreciate the identity spirit that gave their productions, a perfect union between the territory, its history and the continuous search for added value. Here oegnic is the starting point, not easy fashion of the moment. A belief that starts from far and finds confirmation in every gesture of the daily management of the vineyard.
With the recent vegan certification of all wines, a further piece is added to the company’s strongly green project.

Tasting Notes
Although Soave bears the distinction of being the largest DOC in Italy for the production of white wine, only several dozen Soave producers fashion wines of superior character and quality. La CAPPUCCINA is unquestionably one of those elite. The 2015 La CAPPUCCINA Soavebears the beautiful golden robe of the noble Garganega grape, replete with the luster of the radiant Italian sun. An enticing aroma, resplendent with hints of acacia flowers and soft fruit scents in the form of white peach, mandarin orange, and lime zest, caresses the nose. On the palate, the 2015 La CAPPUCCINA Soave continues to charm with velvety fruit, crisp acidity, and a lithe, gentle spirit that makes the taster beg for more. Add a gentle minerality that quenches the thirst and brings a smile to the face, and La CAPPUCCINA’s youthful Soave is hard to resist. Although some may prefer their white wine ice cold, we suggest serving La CAPPUCCINA’s Soave at a more moderate temperature (40º-45º F) in order to capture the complete personality of this wine. Enjoy!
Food Pairings
The 2015 La CAPPUCCINA Soave provides the consummate aperitif, as it delights the nose, enlivens the palate, and flows easily and gracefully down the thirsty throat. The 2015 La CAPPUCCINA Soave is also very food friendly. It makes a great companion to seafood, freshwater fish, salads, cheeses, and fruit. Scallops sautéed in white wine, butter, olive oil, and a pinch of your favorite fresh herb makes for a memorable pairing with La CAPPUCCINA’s impeccable Soave. Grilled mountain trout pairs beautifully with this wine, too. Shrimp with a cucumber aioli, caviar, hors d’oeuvres, and cured or smoked salmon provide more winning combinations with the 2015 La CAPPUCCINA Soave. Mushroom and cheese risotto in the company of this organic Soave offers another treat. In fact, most white meats and cow’s milk cheeses provide more opportunities to enjoy the 2015 La CAPPUCCINA Soave. Avoiding overpowering flavors such as heavy tomato sauces, raw garlic, and piquant spices is our only caveat with this wine, as such companions can obscure the elegance and charming personality of the finest Soave – a delicate, pure, flavorful white wine by nature. Salute!
Winery Notes
Italy is full of delightful surprises and undiscovered treasures, and nowhere is this truer than in the domain of wine – the fruit of the vine. In Italy, one never knows where the next buried treasure lies or what pearls will emerge from the most unlikely of places. Consider La CAPPUCCINA and the Tessari family’s pure, flavorful, organically grown Soave. In Soave, which ranks as the largest white wine DOC of Italy, only a handful of producers estate-bottle premium Soave such as one finds at La CAPPUCCINA.
The Tessari family has been growing grapes at La CAPPUCCINA, the site of an ancient chapel of Franciscan friars, for more than a century. The property takes its name from the small, recently restored 15th century chapel where Capuchin friars once worshipped. Today, the chapel is the property’s most striking architectural feature and its silhouette appears on all of the winery’s labels. La CAPPUCCINA is located at Costalunga di Monteforte d’Alpone in the heart of the Soave DOC and it presently comprises 54 acres of organically grown grapes and certified organic wines – a rarity in this neck of the woods. Even more compelling are the purity and quality of the wines produced by Pietro, Sisto, and Elena Tessari. The Tessaris produce exemplary Soave and white Sauvignon as well as several traditional Veronese reds, the most intriguing of which is Madégo, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.
In addition to their acumen for fashioning exceptional wines, the Tessaris are equally masterful at pairing their wines with exceptional cuisine in beautiful settings. Pietro, Sisto, and Elena’s brother Simone is chef/proprietor of the nearby restaurant, where the estate’s wines are matched with innovative interpretations of traditional Veronese specialties. La CAPPUCCINA is a feast for all of the senses. However, what makes La CAPPUCCINA so special is not only the quality and variety of its wines, but how a certified organic property of this stature could have remained so long under the radar. However, thanks to the new generation at this estate, La CAPPUCCINA remains no longer buried treasure: it radiates like a brilliant, newly discovered gem, which we are immensely delighted to share with our members.• La CAPPUCCINA Soave doc 2015

- La CAPPUCCINA Soave, a testimonial from U.S.
We have all heard the cliche, “A little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing.” When it comes to selecting wine I really don’t believe a little bit of knowledge is dangerous but it can limit your possibility of finding a gem.
Take for example Soave. Many of our guests think of Soave as a cheap Italian white wine sold in 1.5 liter bottles for around ten dollars. For the most part they are correct, but there are a handful of top producers that make immensely enjoyable wines. These wines from the quality-driven winemakers go largely unnoticed in our stores because of the tarnished reputation of Soave.
I had the opportunity to visit one of the quality leaders in Soave last month, La CAPPUCCINA.La CAPPUCCINA is a dynamic estate run by three young siblings; Pietro, Sisto and Elena Tessari. The estate is in the picturesque village of Costalunga di Montefort d’Alpone which lies in the central, hilly, classico part of Soave.
Sisto Tessari explained to me that 50 million years ago the hills where his vineyards are located were part of an undersea volcanic mountain range. Why is that important? Sisto went on to explain that the Soave wine production zone is one of the most thoroughly researched in the world. Those ancient lava flows created the dark, mineral rich soil where his vines grow today. “The Soave that is produced here is very different from other parts of the zone.”Sisto Tessari in his cellar under the vineyards. The dark wall behind him is the black basalt rock which bear witness to ancient lava flows.
Great soil alone will not produce great wine. In the vineyard Sisto combines innovation with tradition to obtain low yields. He encourages the vines’ roots to compete for nourishment and dig ever deeper into the soil. In addition, since 1985 La CAPPUCCINA has adopted organic production methods. All chemical treatments have been banned in order to guarantee healthier wine and greater respect for the environment.

A winery that for many years, or as it is often said, has converted to the organic world, that of Elena, Sisto and Pietro Tessari, is a beautiful reality that extends for about forty hectares along the eastern side of the denomination of the Soave.
Excellent is the Soave which, challenging the difficult 2014 harvest, highlights a considerable performance.
